Production Log: 28th November
Today i returned to school after being of with tonsilitis and compleated a powerpoint presentation containing a Proposal for my magazine. The proposal contains the type of audience i am aiming my magazine at, the publishing house i will use, how males annd females will be represented and genre of the magazine.

Production Log: 12th November
Today I completed a PowerPoint presentation on double page spreads in magazines. I analysed 3 double page spreads discussing conventions such as space, layout, image, text, colour and many more.
Production Log: 9th November
Today in my free's I completed a PowerPoint presentation on the representation of artists in music magazines. This consisted of 3 tables for 3 genres magazine these where rock, RnB and pop. The tables consisted of 3 type of artist, males, females and groups and then examples of a stereotypical look of how they are represented in the genre along with annotated connotations of that look.

Today I uploaded a PowerPoint presentation on audience for all music magazines. I commented on things such as age, gender and social class.

Today I completed a PowerPoint presentation on the institutions involved in making and distributing magazines. I looked at the publishing houses involved in making NME, Kerrang and Q.

Production Log: 25th October
Today I completed and uploaded a PowerPoint presentation of 3 analysed magazine contents pages. I annotated contents pages from Vibe and Q. I chose two issues of vibe to annotate as one of the 2 issues has the President of the United States as the main image which is very unusual for a music magazine.

Today I made yet another PowerPoint slide but this time about name ideas for my magazine. The names a put on the slide are very representative of the dance music genre the chosen genre for my magazine.

Today I made another PowerPoint slide but this time on Existing Magazine names. I used Vibe, Rolling Stone, Q and Spin then said which genre each is and spoke about the meaning behind each name.
Production Log: 19th October
Today I made a PowerPoint slide explaining in connotations for 5 main colours and shades. These where Red, Blue, Green, Black and White. For each I discussed what the colour is associated with, what it symbolises and whether it has a positive or negative connotation.

Today I completed and uploaded a variety of exciting mastheads onto a word document then on to blogger. I tried finding different mastheads for different genres so managed to get RnB, Hip Hop, Rock, Indie, Dance and Pop.

Today I started getting ideas of what is already out there in the dance/Drum and Bass magazine genre. As this is such a niche genre there is not much to look at but I did get a range of ATM magazine front covers and put them in a mood board.

Today I finally finished and uploaded a completed front cover analysis prezzi. I was working on this a good week trying to get back into analysing magazines and getting to grips with prezzi an application I have never used before. I analysed a Q, Rolling Stones and Vibe magazine cover.

Production Log: 4th October
Today as a class we got into groups and miss ran through how to analyse a front cover, contents page and Double page spread. We learnt about the conventions of each and my group analysed a Rolling Stones front cover, NME contents page and a Kerrang Double page spread.

Today I spent my lesson deciding on a range of texts to choose from that I would like my magazine to have as my Heading and Text for the rest of the piece I decided on 5 options for both. I put this all on my blog on a word document titles Font Ideas.
Production Log: 27th September
Today I put my first items on my blog this consisted of my preliminary task with a magazine front cover and contents page for a magazine about Haydon named The Haydon Times. The task was made starting with my group and I going and taking pictures about the school and then uploading them to photoshop and making the contents and front cover pages using a different texts.

Contents Page
Preliminary Task: Contents Page:
My Contents page is very basic with minimal design and images as it fully focuses on the text. My font colour chose is based on the black ground and the yellow almost contrast on to the page as if its glowing, the size of the font is just quite big in order to again stand out.
Weaknesses:
- Different colour scheme to to the cover.
-Very basic.
- Boring.
- Unclear.
Front Cover
Preliminary Task: Front Cover
My magazine front cover holds a very simple title and very stereotypical title of The Haydon Times with the Times part being the same as many major broadsheet newspapers in the UK. The masthead on my magazine is positioned at the top of the magazine which is more common that not in most magazine so that the reader can clearly tell what the magazine is called and about. The Colour and font of my masthead have been chosen to make it clear to read.
My Cover focuses around the image with text bubbles telling the audience what is in the magazine positioned around the image. I filled the bubbles white and made the text black therefore the text is clear to read and stands out. Another part of my cover which has been made clear and easy to read is the issue number and date of release with white text on and as this information has been posted on every magazine ever published it is key that it is visible.
An odd thing to find on a magazine front cover is the contact information as this is commonly found on the back cover but as this is a school magazine this information is vital to parents who are the target audience.
Weaknesses:
- No price on cover.
- Looks Messy.
- Poor picture doesn't relate to magazine enough.
